Town of Arena Board Minutes
April 1, 2013
PRESENT: Dave Lucey, John Wright, Bill Gauger, Minnie Gauger, Cathy Acker, David Meudt, Kevin Paar, Jon & Andrea Joo, Gene Wilkinson
- The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Roll call was taken. All board members are present. -Gauger moved to approve minutes of March 4, 2013, Wright seconded. Motion carried. -Gauger moved to approve minutes of March 25, 2013. Wright seconded. Motion carried.
-Andrea Joo, brought letter to verify she has permission to re-zone. She has everything she needs. The Town Board changed wording of the Plan Commission meeting minutes of March 25, 2013 that “clay pigeons being used for hunters only.” This is for noise control.
-Wright motioned that we accept the re-zoning of Erdman Holdings 11.84 acres from Ag-1 to RB-1; Gauger seconded. Motion passed.
-Gene Wilkinson interested in re-zoning. Will be at the Plan Commission Meeting April 29, 2013.
-Road Repair list. Patrolmen made a list of road repairs for the 2012-2013 season. 12 miles of repairs on list. We are going to concentrate on about 6 miles of road. Discussion.
-Tires for Pickup. Dave will get bids and tires will be put on the truck.
-Meetings with Iowa County. Looking at Hwy 14 (10 miles along town) to give responsibility to our patrolmen. Responsibility on heavy snow day of 6 inches or more to be removed at least 3 times a day. Discussion. If we took it over, patch, seal, plow, grade we will need another patrolman and another truck. More discussion will be needed.
-Gauger motioned to accept Bindl Bauer Limestone Bid for breaker, rock, gravel. Gravel is 7.52 ton, Breaker is 7.44 ton, Chips, 9.17 ton. Wright seconded. Motion carried.
-Arena Landfill: Arena Village/Town Decision was made to stay with the Davy Lab because we have a history with them and are competitive. Change testing. No site has ever been shut down in the state. Some landfill sites are tested more than once a year. We will be billed once a year for ˝ of testing. Without double test $740-750 per year for town.
-Iowa County Humane Society contract. $500/year for 4 animals. After that $125/animal. Gauger motioned to not renew the contract, Wright seconded. Motion passed.
-Clean Sweep. Check on price of advertising in Home News. Put a banner in front of town hall.
-Gauger made a motion to accept the bills; Wright seconded. Motion carried.
-Wright motioned that the Plan Commission terms renewed for Cheryl Schmidt and Mark Hottmann; Gauger seconded. Motion carried.
-Wright made a motion to adjourn; Gauger seconded. Motion passed.
