Town of Arena Board Minutes
November 6, 2017
PRESENT: Dave Lucey, John Wright, Cathy Acker, Minnie Gauger, Bill Gauger
OTHERS: David Meudt, Jim Whitaker, Mary Lockman, Brian Simmert, Jim Wenzler
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Roll call was taken. All present.
- Gauger motioned to approve the minutes of the October 2, 2017 Town Board meeting .Wright seconded. Minutes approved.
Cook: needs a re-zone or a conditional use permit for non-conforming property at 5848 Blue Ridge Rd Would like a re-zone from A-1 non-conforming to AR-1. Gauger moves to re-zone 2 acres from A-1 to AR-1 with the understanding that the existing structure is removed before a building permit is issued. Wright seconded. Motion carried. Paid $250
River Valley Coon Rock Road and Hwy 14. Put up cold storage on one lot instead of 3 lots. Store mostly cheese and semi loading and parking. Building on the south end out of scenic easement. New driveway on Coon Rock. Parking area north of the building. Zoned B2 but needs to be re-zoned to B3 because it is a warehouse. Building will be 100 x 200, and then offices. Wright moves to rezone all 3 lots to B3 with conditional uses: cold storage warehouse, company offices, motor freight transportation company, and reconfiguration of lot lines. Gauger seconded. Motion carried. paid $500.
Lewis, Jon: Driveway and Building Permit 8125 Sweeney Road. Shared driveway 8149 Sweeney (Patterson). Wright moves to approve Building and Driveway Permit. Down the road if there is an issue it is agreed by both parties at the landowners expense to put in a culvert. Contingent on payment Nov 7th. Gauger seconded. Motion approved. pd$1500
Buckeridge: Building permit for barn. Inspector says that there are no violations. Wright made a motion to approve 7571 Hwy 14 for the barn at its present location. Lucey seconded. Gauger did not vote. pd $1000
Simmert,: Would like us to go back to pick up at the residence homes for garbage or recycling. Would like to talk more about this at the next Town Board meeting. Find out about pricing with Town and Country.
Adopt Iowa County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan “Update. Wright motioned to adopt. Gauger seconded. Motion carried.
Bills: Gauger motioned to approve the bills. Wright seconded. Motion carried.
Public Comments: ATV signs are going to be put up. Prefer the ATV Club use the town’s posts. There is still some confusion with those putting up the signs. Patrolmen need to contact Terry Askevold and meet with those putting up the signs. Will go out with the sign people. Village of Arena is being contacted and Jim Wenzler will be meeting with them on issues so that the ATV’s are not wandering the village roads and the Ordinace. Meeting with the County on Nov 14th.
Patrolmen: Need to redo the hill at Roberts Road and try and get TIF money to help cover the expenses.
There are 38 hours on the leased mower so far. Will let the town board know if he is getting closer to 60 hours.
John Wright and Jim Whitaker is rating the roads in the township for our report due in December. Roads are in pretty good shape. The 2016 Peterbuilt will be in the shop for leaking of a cylinder. Will need to wait until next year to do the recycled material on Peck Road. They are out of the recycled patch.

Salaries of Patrolmen: Two year contract. Jim at $20/hour, David $20.70/hour. Contracts will be signed.
Wright motioned to go out of Closed Session. Gauger seconded. Out of Closed Session.
