Town of Arena Board Minutes

July 2, 2018


PRESENT:  Dave Lucey, John Wright, Bill Gauger, Cathy Acker, Minnie Gauger,

OTHERS: Jim Whitaker, David Meudt, Ingmar Nelson, John and Lori Klippel, F and Lynn Smith, Nicholas Beil, Jon and Andrea Joo, Wayne Schutte


The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.  Roll call was taken. All Town Board members present.

Gauger motioned to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2018 Town Board meeting.  Wright seconded.  Minutes approved.


Bouril:  6499 Cty K  rezone from A1 to AR1.  Purchased 1985.  Non-conforming home. .02 acres CRP in the middle of the property cut the property into two separate parcels.  No decision made at this time.  Will put him on the PZ meeting. 


Judge:  Purchased more acreage on 8149 Sweeney Road. Lot 1 29.439 acres. Lot 2 is 11.33 acres. Lot acreage has changed.  Giving a conservancy easement on the land.  Changing new lot sizes.  Gauger moves to approve a land division on the old Patterson farm (referencing Nov 27, 2017 Plan Commission Minutes) already zoned as C-1.Discussion on the taxes for the conservancy land.  Wright second. Motion carried.  Paid $250


Beil:  Changing animal units from 8 to 16.  23.97 acres currently allowed 8 animals.  Long term they will be breeding and selling horses.  Wants to have 16 animal units. Gauger motions to approve animal units up to 16 which is allowed under the county ordinance.  Wright seconds.  Motion carried.  Paid $250. 


Klippel/Nelson: Discussion on living in a camper for a long period of time, working on the house up there.  Klippel says he needs a permit to work on the house from the town.   Klippel wants Nelson to have a town building permit and a conditional use. Building permit is Not required from the town.  According to Klippel the Nelson tenants are trespassing on the Klippel land.  Scott Godfrey has given written permission for the camper to be there until November 23rd.  The police were at the property and found nothing that was a problem at this time. 


Public Comments:  Talked about the signage for ATV Routes in the town.  Signs are up.  Leitzke was granted two horses on her 1 acre by the county. 


Patrolmen:  Fitts Road is finished.  Waiting for our crushed blacktop for Peck Road possibly will just gravel .  There are now 5 houses on the road. Board decided we should gravel it this year and seal coat next.   Need to patch Helena Road.  Culvert on High Point needs to be fixed. 


Bills:  Wright moved to approve the bills.  Gauger seconded.  Motion carried.


Gauger motioned to adjourn, Wright second.  Meeting adjourned.
